Swiss Steak
Description:
This is the best swiss steak I have found.
Great served with a salad.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 round steak
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 (16 ounce) can stew tomatoes
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
1 (16 ounce) can Lesueur peas (drained)
1/4 cup shredded sharp cheese
1/2 cup chopped carrot (optional)
1/2 cup chopped celery (optional)
Directions:
Cut meat into 4 portions, mix flour and salt;
Pound flour into meat on both sides with meat clever or
side of saucer, set aside remaining flour.
Brown meat in small amount of Hot oil.
Place meat in shallow baking dish.
Blend remaining flour with dripping's in skillet.
Add remaining ingredients, except cheese.
Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture boils.
Pour over meat, top with cheese.
Cover and bake in 350 degree oven.
Cook 45 minutes or until tender.
Number Of Servings: 4
*I double this recipe because, it's good heated in the microwave the next day.
