Funnel Cakes
Description:
I got this recipe from Wendell, he was the first
one to serve funnel cakes at the Oklahoma State Fair in 1982.
After mixing this up, I use a clean used ketchup bottle instead
of a funnel, I think it is easier!
Ingredients:
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 Tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg, beaten
2/3 cup milk
powder sugar
Directions:
Make sure your baking soda and baking powder is fresh!
Sift all dry ingredients together in a bowl.
In separate bowl, mix egg and milk together, add to dry ingredients,
Beat until smooth. (ADD MORE MILK GRADUALLY until
the CONSISTENCY OF PANCAKE BATTER).
Fill skillet with 1 inch of cooking oil, heat as for cooking.
Hold finger over end of funnel, fill with batter,
remove finger and let it run into hot oil,
in THIN LINES, keep moving funnel around until empty.
Cook until brown, turn over with tongs,
Sprinkle with powder sugar and serve!
Number Of Servings: Makes about 6 Funnel Cakes
